“Österreich ist frei!” – “Austria is free!”
This was how Austrian Chancellor Leopold Figl announced the restoration of an independent and democratic Austria with the signing of the State Treaty in the Marble Hall of Belvedere Palace.

Later, the foreign ministers of the victorious powers—the USA, Great Britain, France, and the USSR—along with 600 other diplomats, celebrated the historica event at a state banquet at Schönbrunn Palace. To mark the occasion, the table was set appropriately: oxtail soup was served with Danube schill and strawberries, accompanied by wine from the Wachau region, including Dürnsteiner Flohhaxen.

To commemorate the 70th anniversary of the signing of the State Treaty, we invite you to the State Treaty Menu. In an elegant atmosphere, we will serve a five-course menu inspired by recipes from that era, paired with carefully selected beverages. We will also explore the culinary traditions of post-war Vienna and sign numerous treaties.
